Guided Tours

We are excited to announce the activities of the Social Program on Wednesday afternoon. Workshop participants can choose from the three guided tours below.

All activities are free of charge for registered participants.

1. Tour of the Parliament Building

When visiting Bern... you have the unique opportunity to tour the Swiss Parliament Building!

  • Maximum group size: 30 persons
  • Activity: 1-hour guided tour in English
  • Meeting time and point: At 15:20 in front of the Parliament Building at Bundesplatz 3, 3003 Bern. Visitors arriving late will not be granted access.
  • Access information: All visitors are subject to an identity check and must present an official identity document to security staff. Acceptable forms of photo ID are passport, identity card (from CH and EU states), driver's license (from CH and EU states), and Swiss foreign nationals identity card. Visitors and their belongings undergo security screening by passing through a metal detector. Visitors may bring one item of luggage no larger than L 41cm x W 31cm x H 10cm. Liquids are not permitted.

2. Tour of the SBB Pavilion

Zukunft Bahnhof Bern – translated to Future of Train Station Bern – is an extensive, multi-year construction project to renew Bern's main station. Our visit to the Info Pavilion, guided by Kurt Bärtschi, allows us to experience the future of the train station today through 3D models, virtual reality goggles, visualizations, and interactive displays.

  • Maximum group size: 24 persons
  • Activity: 45-minute guided tour in English + individual tour around the construction sites
  • Meeting time and point: At 15:45 in front of the Restaurant Grosse Schanze. We will walk together to the SBB Pavilion on the first floor of the railway station.

3. UNESCO Stroll through the Old City

Bern’s old city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, fascinates with its distinctive limestone buildings, charming alleys, and impressive monuments. The 90-minute guided walk takes you through the old city – on cobbled streets, past hidden nooks, and onto historical city squares. You will hear facts and anecdotes, funny and serious stories, and gain interesting insights about the past and present.

  • Group size: No limit
  • Activity: 90-minute guided walk in English
  • Meeting time and point: We will meet at 15:30 at the Tourist Information at Bern Station (Bahnhofplatz 10a, 3011 Bern). The Tourist Information is located at the east entrance near bus platform H, where Bus No. 21 leaves in the direction of Bremgarten.
  • We explore the old city on foot – please wear comfortable shoes
